Catastrophe of Epic Proportions
The earthquake struck with devastating force, ravaging entire towns in its sweep. Buildings collapsed like house of cards, and the chaos that ensued was deafening. Worst Day Ever
It all started with a terrible case of uncontrollable hair. I couldn't figure it to look decent. As I was dashing out the door, I fell and gracefully all over the floor. To make matters worse, I was completely late for school.
I flustered. My {boss|teacher|was absolutely furious. I attempted to explain, but it was a complete disaster.
The rest of the day was just as bad. was a catastrophe. I get anything done.
By the time I reached my destination, I was utterly defeated. This day, this terrible day will be forever remembered as a true disaster.

It all started out horribly with a simple mishap/incident/screw-up. But then it went from bad to absolutely terrible. A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to run away and hide.
